Cânân Arın from Istanbul, Turkey, is the tenth winner of the Anne Klein Women's Prize. The lawyer will receive the prize in 2021 for her tireless commitment to freedom from violence, equality and legal certainty for women and girls. She has been campaigning for women's rights and self-determination for over 40 years. In 1990, Arın was one of the founders of the Mor Çatı (Purple Roof) association and thus of the first independent women's shelter in Turkey, which was founded in 1995.
